That was really nice! I'm amazed you get such clean inking lines with a crow quill. I might have to invest in one of those!

wow..thanks kazu! That was amazingly informative and entertaining. I enjoyed that. I would love to see something like this for Flight. Maybe your next Flight cover? ;)

Haha, I'm a lot less confident when it comes to doing the more rendered stuff. Maybe someday I'll attempt a step-by-step for one of those, but I imagine someone like my friend Khang would be a lot better at it.

Wow, you hold your pencil in a mangled claw! Do you have a weird bump on your middle finger?

Heheh. I also hold my chopsticks with a "scissor" technique. It seems I just don't do ANYthing the proper way.

Am I the only sucker in the room that dropped the grand on an 11x17 scanner? (Irony: I went all-digital after acquiring my little 4x5 Wacom shortly after the scanner purchase. D'oh.)

Thanks for putting that up, in either event.

I'm thinking about purchasing one of those things. The one I want is over 2 grand, though. Hmmm...

Wow, really? What's it do for the extra cash?

FWIW, this one (Microtek Scanmaker 9800XL) is the one I got, and it seems to work pretty quickly and the quality seems right on. Too bad I never use it.

The one I've been eyeing is this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002LC9TC/qid=1138155721/sr=8-6/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i6_xgl23/104-3484026-8719947?n=507846&s=electronics&v=glance

Ever since I used the large format Epsons at an architecture firm I worked, I've always wanted one. Is the Microtek fast? And are you looking to sell it?

Having gone from using an old 9x12-in-six-scan-passes the same way you described to a single scan, it sure seemed fast when I switched over to it. Sadly it's not even connected right now so I can't run a test. I might do so later after I get through the work phase of my day.

I might be interested in selling it, though I'm up in Portland -- I think I still have the original shipping packaging, though. I'll have to check with another friend who inquired about acquiring it.

I had an HP 11x14" scanner for the longest time, probably 7 years, until I bought a G5 tower which couldn't accept the SCSI card needed to hook up to the scanner. Then I sold the G5 a year later. I did not go all out on a new scanner, but instead just bought a little canon letter-sized dealy. Kinda wish I still had a mondo scanner, but i don't know it'd be worth the money to me right now.

Woah, excellent tutorial O__O Thanks!

Question: in the "Process" section of Daisy Cutter is says that the pages for it were filled with flat colours. I thought the book was b&w to start with--is there a colour version out there somewhere?

Oh, my bad. There are no actual colors in Daisy Kutter. I've written a new Daisy story, though, and it's in colour. :)

This is fascinating stuff. Cheers for going to the trouble. I only recently discovered a lot of webcomics - I saw your stuff in the webcomic book. Some of the best stuff in that book was the process stuff.
D'you know - some guy challenged me in a shop about the way I hold a pen. I was validating the back of a cheque and he made his daughter come and look. "look" he said, "this man holds a pen like you do, so he does it wrong as well!"
