Copper - "Steps"

The new Copper is up. It's a bit of a tribute to an early Little Nemo cartoon, a strip that I saw in an animation book while at school one day, and revamped my interest in drawing comics.

Super Mario may have had days like this.

But poor Super Mario had neither Fred nor Copper. Just those trippy mushrooms.

Hey, if they do those CCA awards again, let's all nominate Copper for best "Diary Comic" just to confuse them.

And, because it just *is* one.

Yep, and because of the autobiographical nature of the comic, it's been difficult for me to detach myself from the characters enough to let them live their own lives (like I tend to do with my graphic novel stories). Maybe I'm just getting lazy. :)

I'll give the file to Ben tonight... Yeah, and I feel this way all the time. It won't end, you know? I'm just glad I love my life as it is now. :)

Wow, this really does feel like the Little Nemo comics, at the beginning of the strip anyway. I have a very old book which is a collection of Little Nemo strips. I pull it out and read through it every once in a while. There's something so very different about it than any other comics you can read.

I can totally relate at this point. :)

Gosh, this one's been around for a while now! I remember when you were going to do a variation of this (talking mushrooms and all) for Flight v.1 :D

It's a different message, but yeah, I was going to mention "Mushroom Crossing", and link to it, but I think the drawings in that one are so out of date, I'll retire it.

always great to see a new Copper and this one is great. i, too, can relate to this particular strip. 'one mushroom at a time' indeed.

(i also found some of the panels with the foreboding mushrooms like spinning plates... but that could be just me)

Brilliant work, Kazu - ever since I have discovered your work (particularly Copper), I have been singing your praises to friends and passer-bys and giving Bolt City as many plugs as I can. I look forward to seeing the next episode of Fred and Copper, and will purchase Flight 3 when I go to HeroesCon in a few months.

[info]lx totally nailed it with his Mario observation. You've captured that task that gets bigger and bigger without getting finished.

Or what it's like to play a platform game where the jumps get crazier as the targets get smaller.
